Gali Atari and Milk & Honey
About Gali Atari and Milk & Honey
The 1979 Eurovision Song Contest's winning entry from Israel, Hallelujah, was performed by Gali Atari and Milk & Honey. This band was created especially for the contest after the song's original performers, the band Habibi, declined the opportunity to sing it. In 1978 they offered the song to the Israeli national final but were turned down. In 1979 the song was accepted though Habibi themselves withdrew due to internal conflicts within the band and the Shlomit Aharon's (the lead singer, pictured) accident.
