It was almost 10 years ago when Incubus released ‘Light Grenades’, Their sixth studio LP and their second one produced by the talented Brendan O’Brien. The album was another important step for the Californian band, fusing their alternative rock run deeper into the mainstream. Especially because of this wonderful song, ‘Love Hurts’. Only on YouTab you can now play the song with the chords & lyrics in perfect sync, as played by the band on The Late Show with David Letterman.
Sure, Incubus knew major success with other ballads before, like with their beautiful song – ‘Drive‘. But there was something different about ‘Love Hurts’, mainly because of the lyrics. Singer Brandon Boyd previously said the lyrics for the song are full of cliches, but there is a very strong message within, and he’s absolutely right.
Boyd sings: ‘Love Hurts, but sometimes it’s a good hurt, and it feels like i’m alive’. It’s true: Not all love is possible to materialize, whatever the reasons may be. Waking up in the morning and being love sick is an awful feeling. But it can also easily add lots of meaning to your life. Letting you learn and realize how you feel about the other side and how do you feel about yourself. Feels like your’e alive.
This last month Incubus wrapped up concerts in Asia, Hawaii and at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, hitting Mexico right afterwards. The band will be in Europe this summer playing Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Poland and Israel. Catch them if you can.
